8. Sharing Your Vodcast

If you want to create a vodcast (for video)instead of a podcast (for audio):
  1. Create an account in either SchoolTube, TeacherTube, or YouTube. To learn more about about these "tubes", see this online tutorial.
  2. Upload your video(s) to a video hosting website such as SchoolTube, TeacherTube, or YouTube.
  3. Create a Blogger account.
  4. Create a blog within your Blogger account.
  5. Create a blog posting, and embed your uploaded video into this blog posting. Here's a video to show you how to: (1) upload your video directly to your Blogger blog, and (2) embed your video that is already posted at SchoolTube, TeacherTube, or YouTube. I recommend that you embed your video, as uploading your video to your blog will take up much of your storage space and can cause your blog to load slowly. Here's a video to show you how to do this:

7. Sharing Your Podcast

To share your podcast, you will first need a website for people to see a listing of your podcasts! Blogger allows you to create a simple website/blog.

Blogger doesn't have the capability to host your audio files at this time. Box.net is a free service that gives you 1 GB of web storage space! It is also one place where you can host your audio files. Once you've uploaded your audio files to your Box.net account, you can easily post your audio files (podcasts) to Blogger via their Blog Posting service! That is how the podcast in posting #6 of this blog was posted!

To create your podcast site:
  1. Create a Box.net account.
  2. Upload your MP3 file (podcast) to your Box.net account. Here's how.
  3. Create a Blogger account, using any email address you like. If you already have a gmail account, then you can just sign-in to Blogger using your gmail address and gmail password.
  4. Create a blog with your new Blogger account. Here's a video on how to do this:

  5. Go into your Box.net account, and click on the "Open Box" tab at the top. Scroll down to the find the "Blog Posting" service, then click on the "Add Service" button.
  6. In your Box.net account, click on the "My Files" tab at the top. Find your podcast MP3 file and click on the blue arrow beside it. Select "Post to Blogger". Note that this action will post the MP3 file to the blog which is listed at the top of your blog list (most recently edited) within your Blogger account. Voila! You've posted your podcast!

6. Create Your Podcast!

Ready to create your podcast? Here's what you need to do:
  1. Create a script (2-3 mins).
  2. Divide your script into segments and paste them into a storyboard.
  3. Consider what background music and sound effects you may want to include in your podcast.
  4. Gather your background music and sound effects.
  5. You can download copyright-free music for your podcast here: http://freeplaymusic.com
  6. You can download copyright-free sound effects here: http://www.freesounds.info and http://www.grsites.com/archive/sounds
Try to create your own podcast (audio) recording using Audacity! Be sure to export your AUP file in MP3 format!
